Ivory Coast
Defense lawyer of Laurent Gbagbo has told the International Criminal Court on Monday that President Alassane Ouattara had seized power “by force”.
“Alassane Ouattara and his supporters wanted to seize power by force and the battle of Abidjan is the implementation of that strategy,” said Emmanuel Altit, lawyer of Gbagbo.
The Defense lawyers said President Ouattara was helped by the French military.
The trial of the former president for crimes against humanity entered its third day at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
